Riffle Sample Divider
The Hovoro Technologies Riffle Sample Divider is designed to divide bulk samples of sand, aggregates and fillers into smaller, representative portions for laboratory testing. It consists of a metal hopper with equal-width chutes that distribute material alternately into separate collection containers, helping reduce bias during sample preparation. Two models are available: HT-301 with 14 slots of 13 mm width and an approximate capacity of 2.1 litres, and HT-301-1 with 16 slots of 25 mm width and an approximate capacity of 4.4 litres. Both models are supplied with three collection containers and are suitable for aggregate grading, soil classification and construction-material testing
Thickness Gauge for Flakiness Index
The Hovoro Technologies Thickness Gauge is used to determine the flakiness index of coarse aggregates by checking the thickness of individual particles against the prescribed gauge openings. It helps evaluate aggregate shape, which can influence the workability and performance of concrete and bituminous mixtures. The gauge features steel construction and is suitable for routine aggregate quality-control testing in civil engineering, road construction and construction-material laboratories. It is designed for testing in accordance with IS 2386 (Part 1).
Length Gauge for Elongation Index
The Hovoro Technologies Length Gauge is designed to identify elongated aggregate particles and determine the elongation index according to the applicable test procedure. The apparatus consists of steel measuring components mounted on a hardwood base, allowing individual aggregate particles to be checked against the specified gauge openings. It helps laboratories assess aggregate shape for material selection and quality control, particularly for road construction and concrete applications. The equipment is designed in accordance with IS 2386 (Part 1).
Density Basket
The Hovoro Technologies Density Basket is used during specific-gravity and water-absorption testing of aggregates. It features a rugged galvanised wire-mesh construction that allows water to circulate freely around the aggregate sample during immersion and handling. The basket has an approximate diameter of 200 mm and height of 200 mm, making it suitable for routine aggregate testing in construction-material laboratories. A buoyancy balance is available as an optional accessory. The apparatus is intended for use in accordance with IS 2386 (Part 3).
Cylindrical Metal Measures (Bulk Density)
The Hovoro Technologies Cylindrical Metal Measures are designed for determining the bulk density and void content of aggregates. These metal containers provide defined volumes for measuring aggregate samples and evaluating their packing characteristics under the prescribed test procedure. The set includes three measures with capacities of 3 litres, 15 litres and 30 litres, along with a tamping rod as specified in the catalogue. The apparatus is suitable for routine aggregate testing and quality-control applications in civil engineering and construction-material laboratories, with reference to IS 2386 (Part 3).
Aggregate Crushing Value Apparatus
The Hovoro Technologies Aggregate Crushing Value Apparatus is used to determine the resistance of coarse aggregates to crushing under a compressive load. The test evaluates the percentage of fines produced after the aggregate sample is subjected to the prescribed loading procedure, providing an indication of aggregate resistance to crushing. The apparatus comprises a steel cylinder of 150 ± 0.5 mm diameter, a plunger of 148 ± 0.5 mm diameter, a base plate and a tamping rod of 16 mm diameter and 600 mm length. It is suitable for aggregate strength evaluation in road construction and civil engineering laboratories and is designed with reference to IS 2386 (Part 4) and IS 9376.
Aggregate Impact Tester
The Hovoro Technologies Aggregate Impact Tester is designed to determine the impact value of coarse aggregates and assess their resistance to sudden shocks. The apparatus uses a standard hammer weighing 13.5–14.0 kg, which falls through a height of 380 ± 5 mm onto a prepared aggregate sample. It features a heavy-duty steel frame, quick-release hammer mechanism, hardened components and an automatic resettable blow counter for monitoring the number of impacts. The test helps evaluate aggregates for road construction, pavements and other applications subjected to impact loading. The equipment is designed with reference to IS 2386 (Part 4) and IS 9377.
Deval Abrasion Testing Machine
The Hovoro Technologies Deval Abrasion Testing Machine, also known as a Deval Attrition Tester, is used to evaluate the abrasion and attrition resistance of coarse aggregates. It consists of two hollow cylinders, each closed at one end and fitted with a tight-fitting cover at the other, mounted at an inclination of 30° to the rotational axis. A motor and reduction gearbox drive the cylinders at a speed of 30–33 rpm, while a revolution counter helps monitor the test operation. The machine is suitable for laboratory evaluation of aggregate durability and is listed for use with IS 2386 (Part 4). Abrasive charge is not included as standard.
Dorry Abrasion Testing Machine
The Hovoro Technologies Dorry Abrasion Testing Machine is used to evaluate the wear resistance of aggregates under abrasive conditions. The apparatus employs a rotating disc system with a sand-feed arrangement, pressing the test specimens against the abrasive surface to assess their resistance to wear. Its dual-specimen testing arrangement supports the testing of two specimens, while the machine operates at a rotational speed of 28–30 rpm. Designed for use in construction-material and aggregate testing laboratories, the apparatus is listed with a 220 V AC power supply and reference to BS 812.
Polished Stone Value (PSV) Apparatus
The Hovoro Technologies Polished Stone Value (PSV) Apparatus is designed to evaluate the resistance of aggregates to polishing under simulated traffic conditions. The machine uses a rotating road wheel with controlled abrasive feed and water flow to produce the polishing action required by the test procedure. It features an applied specimen load of 715–735 N, a road wheel speed of 315–325 rpm, separate coarse and fine emery-feed arrangements, and an automatic revolution counter with preset control. The apparatus can accommodate up to 14 specimens per cycle and includes a removable tray for slurry collection. It is suitable for evaluating aggregate polishing characteristics relevant to road-surface skid resistance in accordance with BS 812-114.
Skid Resistance Tester
The Hovoro Technologies Skid Resistance Tester is a portable pendulum-type instrument used to measure the skid resistance of road surfaces, pavements and suitable test specimens. It operates by measuring the energy lost when a swinging pendulum fitted with a standard rubber slider contacts the test surface, providing a direct Skid Resistance Value (SRV) reading. The instrument features a pendulum weight of 1500 ± 30 g, an effective arm length of 410 ± 5 mm, a scale range of 0–150 SRV and a minimum scale division of 1 SRV. Its adjustable base and levelling screws support correct positioning during testing. The tester is suitable for laboratory and field applications involving highways, airport runways, pavements and road materials, with the catalogue listing IS 2386 (Part 4), ASTM E303 and BS EN 1097-8.
